A Day Outside

I went outside yesterday and got pictures of what everyone was busy doing. The boys were helping Dad pick the potatoes and they were digging up big ones!

They got a total of 5 crates piled full of big red potatoes.
Looks like we will be eating a lot of potatoes..!

Next all the guys went out and pulled the old stuff out of our little garden. We didn't do much in it this year other then a few things like tomatoes, carrots, onions, beans and a few other things.

Picking the peppers.

Micah David was trying to pull the sprinkler system down. lol

The guys recently built the chickens a new coop. They have the pen set up so that all our composting stuff goes into one end of the yard. That way the chickens can do all the turning for us! Works great!! They turn our compost and we gather their eggs. :)
Mean while Micah David is having a blast getting all dirty. Later Micah brings him in dripping from getting into the chicken water. He went straight to the bath tub. It is hard to keep little boys from getting dirty when they think it is so much fun!
The chickens scratching around in the compost.

Joshua was breaking up the old concrete tub we had made for our pig.

Micah decided to check out the cow.

Oh yes, I forgot I hadn't told you about our cow Millie. Well, couple weeks ago Dad brought her home from the auction. She is a very sweet cow and gives us around 5 gallons of fresh, white, creamy milk a day. We have been making lots of butter and are experimenting on different cheese recipes, so far Jenny has made some pretty good cheeses!

Chief and Fara say Hi to you all. :)
Micah made a cute chicken coop and pen for their Buckeye chickens. He planted grass and barley in their yard for them.
He used old pallets making it look old and rustic.
I think it turned out really cute!
I have a flock of Light Brahmans and so this, not so pretty hen, is sitting on their eggs. I was going to get an incubator, but found a natural one. :)
These pictures are mostly for you , Jessica. I thought you would enjoy seeing what we were up to. Joanna twisted her ankle and we are trying to keep everything going with one less person to help. We are managing so far and hopefully she will be back on her feet soon.

Well, that's it for now.
Have a great weekend!!
Your blogger, Joylin
