Do you feel the chill in the air?

Is everyone ready to settle in for the winter? These two are. We are now starting our wood stove every morning. The smell of the wood drifts back through our bedrooms, making it even harder to get out of bed.
Fall is pretty in many ways. The trees are slowling starting to change color and the hot days are turning cold. The brisk evening breeze keeps us lightly bundled up when going out doors. No one ventures out early, unless it is a must. The animals are putting on thick winter coats for the cold days ahead. The gardens are pretty much finished, the last frost coming and telling the plants their time is up.
The potatoes are still keeping up their strength, so watering is still needed.
The cold mornings leave a layer of icicles where the sprinkler has been doing its job all night. Yes, in some ways fall is a fun time of year, but it always makes me sad to see everything leaving for the winter. There is one thing I will always look forward to and that is pulling out the hot chocolate and sitting around the wood stove on those cold frosty nights.
Mom recently had a birthday and we all wish her the best. Mommy has always been so strong and encouraging to all of us. We thank you Mom for all the many things you do every day for us! The Lord knew that we would need a mother just like you. May God bless you and we love you with all our hearts!!

The little people of our house just grow and grow as the months pass. Sometimes it seems like they grow while we aren't looking! :)

We recently dug up our sweet potatoes and were very happy with our crop.
We got lots of them.
Some of them were very big. Jubilee used all her strength to pick them up. :)
Our largest one was 5.5 lbs. Looks like we are going to have lots of sweet potatoes for both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner! :)
I found two more pictures of some things that we took to the fair and thought I would post them even though the event is already past.
Up above is all the different native grasses the children took.
These are all the veggies the boys entered from our garden.
School is well on its way! I am keeping busy with work and life goes on...
